We would really find it helpful if the Google Review Widget could be setup so that one can choose which language to get on the reviews and from Google automatic translations. We are a Swedish ecommerce store and would like to show our reviews on our Danish, English and Finnish sites but as the majority of our customers are Swedish they will appear in Swedish on the other site and not the local language. Would be really great if one could setup the widget to that you can choose language to thow the reviews in (based on Google's automatic translations). Many thanks! / Anton Lindh at Sparv Accessories
Friends, we're happy to say that the Auto-Translate option is already in your Google Reviews widgets! 🎉
Since this Wishlist portal moved to our community forum, you'll find all the details in this post.
See you there!
Many thanks, this would be also a must have feature for us.
Hello folks,
Thanks a lot for your comments!
I've passed all the info along to our dev team and I do believe it will help them come up with a solution for this request.
However, even if we start with filters, I'm afraid we still will need time to start working on this due to a very tight schedule. It's definitely doesn't mean that this request will be buried and we do keep it in mind for future updates for this widget.
Again, a huge thank you for your understanding! 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot @helga - great idea but I believe this will reduce the number of reviews drastically - eg at our company we are just about to launch in Germany and Netherlands - for these markets we have no reviews in local language so there will be none shown if you filter by language. I know that google translate reviews automatically to English (from local language) - can we try to use this instead? I guess its a better option to show as many reviews as possible despite being in English (if there are too few on local language) - ideally one would want non local reviews to be translated into english and the local ones to stay in local language. In this case you will show the most reviews as possible! Hope this was clear and again big thanks!
@Helga, imo filtering on review language is the best solution. I even suggested that already, see my comments on.

However, we have another idea regarding this functionality and we'd really love to hear your thoughts.
What if we added the filter by language so that you could create a separate widget for a particular language?
Please let me know what you think 🙏🏻
Hello everybody,
Thank you for your interest in our widget and in this feature!
As much as I'd love to bring good news for you, I'm afraid I have to say that this feature is not included in the nearest ideas to release list yet.
Unfortunately, due to the extremely crowded schedule and a pile of crucial changes to implement, our dev team has to pick several features to include in the updates, and most often these are the most wanted requests.
However, we assure you that this feature will not be forgotten, the only thing is that we will need more time to add it to the widget 🙏🏻
I wish I had better news to share, however, I'm convinced we should be honest with you.
Again, we're so sorry that we have to slow down the process.
Any update to this one @Helga Kirsanova? I think this would be really really great (ideally if u can get reviews in local language - otherwise english would be ok). Please make this!!
Me to I would like spanish ASAP
Thanks for your support, folks!
We're working hard to make it happen 🙂
Hope that you will have this feature soon!
Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for!!!!
Hi Anton,
Thank you for your comment!
We totally understand how crucial this option is for you and I assure you that we do bear it in mind.
Since our dev team is coping with an enormous range of tasks, they, unfortunately, really need time for developing a new feature.
I wish I could provide an ETA, however, I'm afraid everything depends on the devs' overall load.
But again, we do strive to release new features and make every effort to make it happen as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot for your understanding!
Hello! Just want to check in if you have any update on this one? Would be really nice to get this one implemented =) Here is how it looks on our Swedish site (please remember that 90% of our reviews are Swedish so thereby the current solution work OK for us now but when expanding geographically we would need to get "localized" google review widgets). Thanks / Anton
Thank YOU, folks, for this fruitful conversation 🙂
We're always open for discussions, so your ideas are always most welcome.
Thanks again Helga. Just want to clarify that Google is already automatically translating reviews into English (these are the ones we would like to pick, but in local language if possible). ANyhow thanks for looking into this! Would really be super beneficial for so many etailers out there
Thanks, I already translate my websites with WPML, using a translation agency. Only the reviews from the widget would need to be translated (and the have a mixed source language).
Hi Anton and JP and thank you ever so much for your contribution!
You've given us a lot of food for thought and we truly appreciate your time and interest in this widget.
I'd also like to mention that we have Website Translator widget as our Coming Soon one, you can check how it's going to look here - https://elfsight.com/website-translator-widget/. Perhaps that widget could also be of use in this feature realization.
And you're welcome to vote for that widget request in order to get notified once it's released here - https://wishlist.elfsight.com/ideas/NAR-I-10.
JP, many thanks for your thorough ideas and suggestions - all of them will be definitely considered by our development team.
Thank you!
Mmm ok, automatically translating the review into the language of the page where it is displayed as Anton suggests would also be an option.
However, that means that as soon as the widget loads on the page, it needs to check the page and translate them with Google translate (or other tool) before it can display them. I see a few problems with that:
reviews will load slow because translating a single review will take 1 tot 2 seconds.
there will be charges for using the Google translation api
translations are not perfect so they will ook unauthentic. You'll have to add 'automatically translated from ...' to solve that.
All in all, I think it's better to filter reviews based on the language tag of the page where they will be shown. Or at least prioritize reviews in that language before you show reviews in other languages.
JP
Hi again Helga. Thank you very much and for clarifying - I guess we have to wait a bit then. Really hope you could get this solved soon (we are open to buy additional widgets - eg where each widget is for a specific language/domain - just great to get it solved). Looking forward to get this implemented (ur services are awesome btw)! Really believe this would be so beneficial for so many etailers not all in on English so one can take advantage of all reviews that are added on Google my bus. All the best / Anton
Hi Anton!
I've consulted our developers regarding the question you've left and here's what they have to say.
The idea with lang tag does sound good, and we believe we will definitely be able to implement this option. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no way or a workaround to make this happen, I'm really sorry! This is not that easy task and the devs have to do some investigations in order to see what options we have and find the best way to implement this feature.
We will try our best to consider this request and speed up the process, if possible.
Thanks a lot for your comment!
